Togetherness

about

‘’Togetherness’ is the follow up to the band's recent single ‘Would I Change It? (If I Could) and was recorded in Dorset and London and
produced by the YOVA line up of Jova Radevska (vocal & lyrics) and Mark Vernon (guitars / keyboards) with Anna Calvi and original P.J Harvey drummer, Rob Ellis, Daniel O’Sullivan of Grumbling Fur (Bass), Anna-Phoebe Esler (Violin), Nick Holland (Cello) and David Orchant (trumpet).

The most recent hint of what to expect from a forthcoming debut album that’s due later this year, the music was partly influenced by Serge Gainsbourg’s ‘Melody Nelson’, with Rob Ellis’s orchestration recalling the classic sound of John Barry and string arrangements of Robert Kirby (Nick Drake) and Wally Stott (Scott Walker).

‘Togetherness’ is a song about allowing yourself to be and feel what you are in the moment.

lyrics

I have fallen again
I'm not so sure how fast I can get up this time
I gave myself permission not to fake my happiness
If I'm not able to find that place

I wont try to fake my togetherness, I allow
to be taken somewhere I'm not comfortable being around
I won't try to fake my togetherness

I remember, every doubt, every put down
every beating, every dance, unsolicited advice
I remember keeping it cool when I felt like screaming from the roof tops
Couldn't find the brakes in the emergency lane

I wont try & fake my togetherness, I allow
to be taken somewhere I'm not comfortable being around
I won't try & fake my togetherness

To hell with being politically correct
I can deal with the hate
with expectations not met
with being misunderstood.
I know it's alright
to tread the waters without knowing how to surf

ALPHA, BETA, OMEGA
switch places on the leadership ladder
They say to be cruel is to be kind
I think about the near misses
and the love that died
about the places
I will never go to.

I wont try & fake my togetherness, I allow
to be taken somewhere I'm not comfortable being around
I won't try & fake my togetherness.
I won't rush & fake my togetherness.
